Barcelona, April 6, 2020. The first Solidarity Race of 4Life Europe began on January 13, 2020, and eventually achieved 18,200 kilometers. Recently, the race was interrupted due to the COVID-19 health crisis. We found ourselves obliged to stop our activities to face together this threat, united in our common responsibility to preserve global health.

Even if the Solidarity Race did not end as planned, we did accomplish our purpose to continue providing aid through Foundation 4Life. Thanks to the enthusiasm, involvement and the many kilometers of more than 300 people from all over Europe, we were able to donate €13,250. This extraordinary amount is already improving the lives of many children in the framework of four projects of SOS Children's Villages in Spain and Italy.

The first project we have supported belongs to the Children's Village of Caldonazzo (Trento, Northern Italy), to which we have donated €2,000 so that the children who live there will finally be able to enjoy a dream summer vacation. Within the second project, we provided the Day Center in Almería (Southern Spain) with 6 computers —valued at €4,500—. Donating this computer equipment has been key to foster the educational programme in this Village, where a high poverty rate is recorded. Thirdly, the same amount has benefited 30 children and 19 families living at the Day Center of Realejo (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain). The money in this case has been used to buying and installing all the doors and windows to refurbish the ground floor of this Village. Finally, we allocated €2,250 to the Children's Village of Andalusia (Southern Spain), apart from providing it with 3 computers to promote the education of the children living there.

Rafael Fernández, Vice President of 4Life Europe, stated: “We will continue to develop projects for the young girls and boys of SOS Children's Villages because they need our help and commitment, now more than ever. Together, we can do it.”
